Heartsdales – Super Star

Artist: Heartsdales
Album: Super Star
Release Date: March 2, 2005

1. Intro~the eclipse~
The introduction for this album is pretty interesting with a mixture of crystal-like sounds. It’s a bit messy, but it’s pretty interesting to listen to overall.

2. I See You
I really like the introduction of this song with the piano and one of them yelling “Who’s gonna party harddddd!?”. It’s rather catchy. The verse is less interesting and rather monotone with less of an accompaniment. Rum is constantly flat and lacks support in her singing for the chorus. The chorus is still a bit catchy, though. The verses are extremely messy, though, and have very poor connection to the rest of the song. It fits terribly with the rest of the song.

3. Shining
Rum continues with her poor singing in this next song. I don’t even know what to say to this song. It’s messy melodically, and in the arrangement. Poor singing, and Jewel’s rapping doesn’t stand out much here as I’m mostly distracted by the somewhat electropop arrangement. I’m not even sure what’s happening in this song at times and the whole arrangement feels messy. The melody for the chorus is kind of cute, though.

4. Super Star
For once, I really find the string introduction of this next song really catchy. It has a bit of a turntable mixing with their voices, and the cute bell sounds accompanies the rapping at the beginning. The rap is energetic and works with the accompaniment for once, rather than them being separate entities in the song. The accompaniment is a little tacky, but it’s also immensely cute. XD

5. We Love The Music
And the singing is back in this next song. It’s amazing how Rum singing can make the song so much more immensely worse than it actually was. Support your voice. The song is supported by synths in the background, but nothing in the song really stands out here either. The melody of the chorus continues to be rather cute, although I think part of that is because Rum has a very light voice.

6. Rum Interlude/Hip Hop Barbie
Rum rapping is so much better. Enjoyable interlude.

7. Darlin’ Darkin feat. ZANE (three NATION)
This next song has a nice piano chord progression as the main accompaniment, and it’s mostly played is a short, detached manner as everyone else in the song raps. Rum sounds a bit better here has she reaches notes on the first line she sings, although she still goes flat in the later lines. This is a pretty enjoyable track, though. I enjoy the duet between the featured male rapper and Rum, even if they’re off. The song gets a little bit too repetitive, but it’s not a nice sound overall.

8. Bailamos?
As the title probably indicates, the song has a bit of a latin flavour to it. I especially like the heavier strings as the beat. This song is probably my favourite on the album so far. Rum doesn’t sound as bad singing in Spanish here, and I really like the arrangement of the song. There’s a lot of small instruments everywhere, and it sounds good. I like the pre-chorus, where they go “bum bum bum”.

9. LOVE & JOY
I remembered how terrified I was when I first heard this song coming from Heartsdales. I’m kind of used to their poppy rap style by now, and this song is pretty catchy. The rapping is very energetic, and I enjoy the synths they have in the background. Rum is still flat, but the chorus is quite a nice melody. I really like the bridge here with the heavier synths. It feels out of place in the song, though.

10. Jewels Interlude/Gangsta CHIC
In contrast to Rum’s interlude, this interlude is much more aggressive and it has a lot of attitude in it. I find it funny that the people in the background are yelling “Get drunk now!”.

11. GET DRUNK feat. Mummy-D (RHYMESTER)
… oh wait. I get it now XD. MISTA DRUNK. ORLY. That hilarious note aside. The song has the same aggressive feels as the previous song, and I enjoy the addition of synths throughout the song. The chorus continues the hilarious yellings of “Get drunk now!” over and over. Apparently these girls support alcoholism. I’m sure this song would be more hilarious if I felt like figuring out what they were saying in Japanese. “LIKE M&Ms MELT IN YOUR MOUTH AND NOT YOUR HANDS”. Now where have I heard Jewels saying something like this? XD (If you have no idea, check out their second album).

12. Sister Sister
Of course, Rum will sooner or later come back with her poor singing. My ears hurt a little bit. As energetic these girls are when they rap, I eventually get really bored of this song. Rum still sounds like she’s dying when she sings. Please stick to rapping <3.

13. Paradise feat. Kato Miliyah
Our resident I-was-stuck-with-a-terrible-third-album-cover is featured in this next song, and at least she brings up the level of singing on this album. She sings wells; so much better than Rum. I really like the chorus for this song, though. It’s catchy and sung well by Miliyah. I don’t particularly care for the rapping parts of this song at all.

14. Color of Love
This next song has quite a nice sound overall, and it’s not bad at all. The lighter sound of this song works well with the melody of the song, even if I find Rum more mechanical than usual in her singing here, and it eventually leads to the downfall of this song. It makes it feel like the song drags on for no apparent reason.

15. fantasy
“YOU DOWN WITH FANTASY?” “Yeah you know me!” Aside from th really annoying introduction, The rapping is pretty solid, and for once, Rum’s voice works well with the melody. Her light voice works in this song for some reason. The song is quite nice, aside from the inane yelling at the beginning of the song.

Overall -
Favourite Track: Bailamos?
Amusingly, this album fared better than I thought it would, considering how terrified I was of Heartsdales’ music after they turned to their poppy rap in their singles. Of course, I didn’t find it as catchy as their previous effort when they were being produced by VERBAL. However, their self-produced material isn’t terrible and some of it is kind of catchy. The “Get drunk” song gave me more amusement than it probably was supposed to. Their English lyrics lower my intelligence. In addition, Rum still has the same problem with her singing: poorly-supported, nasally, flat. She has a nice voice, but poor technique. Not as boring as their first album, but not as catchy and well produced as their second album.

Kato Miliyah – TOKYO STAR

Artist: 加藤ミリヤ (Kato Miliyah)
Album: TOKYO STAR
Release Date: April 2, 2008

1. LALALA feat. Wakadanna (Shonannokaze)
The album starts off with a random snare fluorish, which ends abruptly and has very little connection with the rest of the song. Kato starts off poorly as she sounds really strained and she ends some of her phrases awkwardly and abruptly; it doesn’t sound good at all. One the chorus comes in, it’s a bit better as the melody is quite nice and Kato sounds a bit more confident in the notes. Wakadanna is yelling in my ears and he doesn’t fit all that well in this song. Please stop scream-rapping. It’s painful, thanks. It’s better when he stop screaming, though and adds a little bit of pulse to the song. For a first track, it’s ridiculously long, though. Seven minutes? No thanks. It also has a “last-track-of-an-album” sound to it, which I find kind of weird considering it’s the first track. Not worth the seven minutes, but it has a nice melody.

2. 19 Memories
This cover of Namie’s Sweet 19 Blues is quite nice. It opens with piano and a choir in the background. Kato sounds really good in this song: her voice is really full and rich. I personally don’t find the song all that interesting as it’s basically the same thing all the way through, but Kato sings it very well throughout despite the mechanical and laboured accompaniment.

3. Better days -sweet love side-
This next song opens with a piano chord sequence that I quite like; this sequence repeats in the background under Kato Miliyah’s pleasant vocals. This song has a laid-back R&B flavour to it, and I quite like it. I especially like the chorus melody as I find it quite catchy. The song is rather repetitive, but it’s catchy, so it’s not quite as boring as it could have been. I enjoy this song.

4. You go your way
This is the has an acoustic guitar accompanying Kato’s vocals, and I find it rather laid-back, but catchy. The sounds work well together to create a pleasant poppy song. In addition, the vocals are well done, and Kato’s tone works well with this kind of song, although the one-dimensional vocals are kind of getting dull after several tracks of heading similar singing styles.

5. Kiss
This song is quite nice, but I don’t particularly like the programming in the background all that much. It feels kind of empty, and really the only parts of the song I like are the melody and Kato’s voice in this song. The melody is quite nice, although kind of linear in parts of the song. Kato, again, has a nice voice, but I don’t think she puts all that much emotion in this song. It just feels really monotone at parts of the song. There’s a certain detachment from the song from Kato’s voice that I don’t quite like.

6. Love is…
Love is… is supposed to some sort of dramatic ballad. I don’t see it. Again, I like Kato’s voice and tone in general, but I think she can do better with her singing. She’s not nearly as emotional as she could be in this song, and I feel like she doesn’t entirely know how to use her voice as an interpretive instrument. There are parts of the song where I can hear her doing quite well, but there are others where she doesn’t totally grasp the emotion of the song. I really like the use of Pachebel’s Canon in D in the strings, though. It’s kind of interesting as it makes the song more wedding themed by putting that in.

7. 最後のI LOVE YOU
This kind of song fits Kato better in my opinion as she seems to grasp the material much better this time and sounds amazing when she opens this song in her lower octave and she never loses my attention throughout the song. The accompaniment is a bit typical, but it has some cute pizzicato notes from the strings at random points of the song. Kato performance is much more heartfelt than in the previous song, and as a result, I enjoy it much more.

8. Just Wanna Have Fun
Kato leaves the mid-tempo and ballad songs with this next track, and I would have preferred it earlier in the album because I was bored tracks ago. I don’t find that Kato puts enough emphasis on some of her notes in this song, but it’s still a fun synthy song. It’s far from being original or massively catchy, but it’s a decent track.

9. TOUGH
The next song has the same flavour as the previous song, with a similar tempo, but this time with acoustic guitar accompanying in the background, and a heavier bass beat in the background. Again, I find that Kato is far too legato in this song and I don’t think she presents this with as much energy as is needed for such a track. The track seems dull and uneventful mostly due to her vocals, while the accompaniment is kind of catchy, it’s not enough to make up for the dull singing.

10. Young Lady
Something about the melody doesn’t quite sit well with the song at all and feels really unmelodious. The song itself has a pretty typical sound to it with the weird clicking sound as the main beat, but there’s nothing in this song to listen to at all and is pretty much unremarkable. Kato sings well, but the melody is really poorly written and really isn’t pleasant to listen to.

11. サヨナラ
Sayonara is yet another ballad, and Kato sounds wonderful in it. This is probably one of Kato’s best vocal performances technically and emotionally. It’s quite a pleasant ballad to listen to, although I don’t particularly like her vibrato as it sounds kind of tense (and a bit too fast for certain parts of the song) when she does it at times. Nevertheless, Kato’s vocal performance in this song is stunning and makes this song worth listening to.

12. U gatta understand
“Gatta?” Errrr. XD Gattaca?! Anyways, enough making fun of weird spellings (hey, I didn’t even mention the “U”!) opens with some nice traditional instruments, which unfortunately are dropped after the introduction. Why exactly? It would have make a unique track on this album. Either way, I actually enjoy this song a bit more than the previous R&B songs of this style. Kato’s vocals seem to fit the song much better in this case, possibly because of the bass line that I really like. It works well to drive the song forward, and it has a bit of a reggae flavour in the background.

13. 愛は変わらず
This next song opens with short, detached guitar notes and a bit of adlibbing from Kato. The song is rather pleasant to listen to. Not much happens in this song, but it’s still a nice song to listen to, with good vocals from Kato, but there’s

14. FUTURECHECKA feat. SIMON, COMA-CHI & TARO SOUL
This is the best upbeat song from this song by far. There’s an aggressive beat in this song, and really catchy sound. I enjoy the rappers immensely more than the rapper in the first song. First of all, they don’t scream and second of all, they’re really rhythmnic and adds to the song well with plenty of pulse. There’s more rap than actual singing in this song, which is kind of disapointing, but it doesn’t make it any less catchy.

15. Tokyo Star
The title track of this song is another more aggressive song. It features dramatic string sequences. The song is a little bit slower than the previous song, but I like the dramatic sound of it, and Kato pulls the song off well enough. I find the song a little boring after awhile, however, and it ends the album poorly.

Overall -
Favourite Track: サヨナラ, 最後のI LOVE YOU
Vocally, Kato Miliyah has improved a lot since the previous album as she has a better connection emotionally with her music and presents some stunning vocal performances throughout this album. There are parts of the album were she slips back into a bit of a monotone presentation (i.e. some of the earlier songs), but overall, her vocals have very much improved. Her material, however, still doesn’t really appeal to me for the most part, but there are a few tracks that I do enjoy and that I find quite catchy or nice. This album has nothing groundbreaking or anything that stands out to me in terms of her material. However, her vocals make her music much more bearable to listen to, even if her music is rather unimpressive and kind of boring.
Also: Am I the only one who thinks the cover is absolutely hideous? Seriously, Kato’s had better pictures of her; why pick such an unflattering photo?

Various Artists – Tribute to Celine Dion

Artist: Various Artists
Album: Tribute to Celine Dion
Release Date: September 26, 2007

1. Ito Yuna – MY HEART WILL GO ON
Sometimes I wished Ito would sing more like this in more of her songs instead of that thin, breathy voice she usually sings in. The starts off nicely in this song with a breathy, but well-supported sound. I particularly like her voice in the chorus where she sings somewhere in between the breathy tone and a nice chest voice. Vocally it’s a bit weird when she comes in for the second verse as she sounds a bit too harsh. I particularly like her voice when she comes to her fuller chest voice near the near, albeit a few sloppy notes here and there at times. She does the dynamic crescendo decently throughout the song, although there’s still much to improve on as she sounds a bit mechanical throughout the song.

2. K (feat. Aki) – TO LOVE YOU MORE
The next song starts off with a bit of an R&B beat. K comes in with a bit of an echoey sound, but he sounds really breathy from the beginning, and it doesn’t sound all that good in my opinion. I really like the harmonies aki adds in the second time around the first verse. The harmonies are really gorgeous throughout the chorus. I don’t particularly like K in this song at all as he sounds very hesitant due to all the breaks in between each line of the melody. The echo effect added to the song makes them sound distant. K sounds much better when he starts singing out in the bridge though.

3. JUJU – THE POWER OF LOVE
This acoustic guitar version of the power of love is quite nice. I don’t know who JUJU is, but she starts off really nicely with a subtle sound. Her tone is rich and quite nice, and pulls off the chorus quite well. While JUJU sings very well throughout the song, I personally would like a bit more vocal variety in this song the song quickly becomes quite dull as she does the same thing for all the chorus. We’ve heard what she can do the first time around, so the next time around it’s not as impressive.

4. SOULHEAD – BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
The SOULHEAD duo pulls off this classic song wonderfully. The harmonies are excellently executed through the chorus, and the verses are really well done. I quite like the change of sound following the first chorus in terms of arrangement as I find it quite pretty. I think they should have changed their vocal style the second time around as well though.

5. Fukuhara Miho – BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME
Who is this? She’s actually really good, as well as having really good English, aside from random moments in the song when she changes back to a Japanese pronunciation which kind of puzzles me. Anyways, as uninteresting this song is musically, Fukuhara is amazing throughout this song and just pull it along simply with her vocal performance in this song.

6. Hoshimura Mai – IT’S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW
The next song starts off with an organ sound before the song starts. Hoshimura has a really unclear english and possibly the most unclear pronunciation thus far in this album. Vocally though, Hoshimura does a decent job with the vocals. It’s nothing really impressive though, but then again the song itself isn’t very interesting. I do like the little piano interlude halfway through the song.

7. Lyrico – IMMORTALITY
I love Lyrico :D. However, I don’t like the echo sound added to her voice, and the song itself is a little awkward melody-wise. It’s a little dull until she comes in half way through and actually starts to sing out a bit more. The song iself is possibly one of the dullest songs on the album and I’m unimpressed with it.

8. LISA – BE THE MAN
The next song is an acoustic guitar song and LISA pulls it off well with her voice. She sings well with emotion and makes the song quite pleasant to listen to. Her voice mostly spot-on throughout the song, and the melody is sung with sensibility and makes it one of the best songs off the album.

9. Kato Miliyah & Shota Shimizu – I’M YOUR ANGEL
This is a nice duet, although nothing compared to the original. Maybe it’s because I really liked the original and it was probably one of the songs of Dion that I put on repeat. XD Both Kato and Shota can be uncomprehensible at time, but they have nice tone, especially Kato. However, the both of them are an absolute snore throughout the song.

10. Hirahara Ayaka – THE PRAYER
Hirahara’s version of this song is kind of boring as it drags on and on through the song. Hirahara doesn’t really show off vocally in this song either. The arrangement of this song is just dull and doesn’t go anywhere.

Overall -
Favourite Track: BE THE MAN
The tribute album isn’t a bad one. Many of the vocalists performed quite well throughout the songs. However, I felt like a lot of the accompaniments for the songs were really dull and lifeless and didn’t really help the song. Not something I would listen to again, aside for a few tracks though.

Kato Miliyah – Diamond Princess

Artist: Kato Miliyah
Album/Single: Diamond Princess
Released: March 7, 2007

1. Diamond
This song opens up with a strong brassy sounds which I like a lot. Kato’s melodies are still a little awkward sounding, but her vocals sound a lot stronger than in her previous album. I was a little disappointed to find out a minute later this was an introduction XD.

2. Eyes on you
From the first full track, I’m already liking this album loads better than the last one. It has a varied sound already. This is a little dance sound with some interesting guitar backings. Kato’s vocals are much more spot on, once again. This has a nice summer sound to it, although I do find it doesn’t change much, it’s a welcomed change from the last album.

3. Last Summer
Kato’s melody awkwardness is still around from now and then, but it’s far less often than in the previous album. This has a similar (but slightly different) beat from the previous song and has more of a R&B flavour to the song. Again, a bit boring but still a much stronger sound than from her previous album.

4. Kono Mama Zutto Asa Made
The vocals in the introduction are horrible are could have been easily cut out. It’s much better when Kato sings herself rather than that weird person with that affected, unsupported voice. This melody flows well, the again the negative is when that weird man sings. I actually quite like this song in terms of its beat and melody. There’s a bit near the end where Kato sings her higher notes… and they kind of stink. But otherwise, a strong track.

5. LuvSong
This song is a slower-paced song that’s not quite a ballad. Kato’s vocals continue to show much more promise than in the previous album despite still showing some vocal technical problems here and there. This song kind of drags on and on though and I personally find it very boring.

6. FAMILY
I quite like the piano bits in this song, but the melody doesn’t flow as well here either and ends up sounding awkward and making her vocals sound off at times as well because of the weird keys and ends up having to sing in. Some of the problems with her melody composition show up here again as she can’t quite make the melody flow that well, although she does make it flow in parts but a lot of parts do not fare as well. The really awkward melody, again, distracts me from the actual song.

7. Caught up
This song is just pure fun. There’s still a few awkward moments, but you barely notice because of the fun bass beat going on this song. The beat is just infectious and makes you want to stand up and dance. Kato’s vocals still bug me a bit, but I’ll have to admit I like this fun song.

8. My Soul
Again another fun song to listen to. Kato’s really churning out some catchy tunes on this album and I like them quite a bit. Kato’s vocals still leave something to be desired though.

9. Cry no more
I love the melody for the chorus of this song. It really soars in comparison to some of the other melodies she’s written. The rap part in this song is very unimpressive though and just drags the song on longer and longer. I quite like the weird percussion stuff in the background though.

10. I WILL
A ballad! Ballads are really good for me to listen to the singer’s vocals, and this song is proof of Kato’s improvement as a singer since the last album. There are still a lot of parts where she doesn’t quite keep on key and goes a little off, but it’s still stronger than the singing on the past album; she has less of those weird vocal stylings that were annoying me in the last album. She still needs to pay attention to her pitch because it’s still going off a lot. The song itself is nothing new, but she does a decent job selling this song through her vocals despite her shortcomings.

11. SOTSUGYOU
At first I really liked this song: it had a nice sound, it had a nice melody, it had pretty good vocals. As the song went on, the song became more and more forgettable. Nothing really interesting here.

12. Wasurenai Kara
Again, there’s nothing special about this song. It’s kind of boring, it’s kind of dreary. Kato does sound kind of good here though.

13. So special
Same with this. Nothing special. Boring.

14. Paradise
The flute here is actually kind of gorgeous. I like it. This song is a bit nicer than the previous tracks and has a light sound I quite like. The melody for the chorus is a little weird when she goes “Paradise” and she ends her chorus with a high note… it kind of makes the chorus sound unresolved with the strange note. Nevertheless, I quite liked this song.

15. Wonderful
Again, Kato has another strange melody in the chorus with the chorus going high very strangely. It’s kind of interesting, but also a bit strange. It just makes the whole chorus sound really awkward. This doesn’t work as well as the previous track and it just makes me kind of dislike the track.

Overall-
Favourite track: Paradise
Kato’s sophomore album is a much stronger album than her debut album. However, there’s still so much more to improve for her. Very few of the tracks on this album actually stood out for me. Although I wasn’t as annoyed by her vocals this time, her songs themselves don’t stand out for me. Her vocals are also still not consistently good and I’m still waiting for this girl to impress me. She has yet to impress me. I’ll be looking out for more from her though since she still shows promise.

Kato Miliyah – Rose

Artist: Kato Miliyah
Album/Single: Rose
Released: October 26, 2005

1. Yozora
This album starts off with an upbeat track that has a nice beat. There’s not much other than that though because the linear melody just keeps repeating. Kato has a pretty solid voice though, other than a few parts where she’s a bit off but nothing to worry about.

2. Dear Lonely Girl
I personally find her vocals on here pretty weak at the beginning. It’s lacking a lot of vibrancy she could have in her vocals. This song has a nice sound though. The weird echoes in the background are a bit awkward sounding though and this song is a bit boring after awhile. I’m not quite sure where the melody has gone in the verses.

3. Don’t stop!
I still don’t like Kato’s vocals that much. It sounds like she’s not giving it her all and there’s more her voice can deliver. She has a pretty promising voice but it’s sort of a hit or miss for me. Sometimes she sounds really good, sometimes there’s just something not right about her vocals. This song, however, is upbeat and a nice listen. A bit catchy, especially the faster moving bits in the chorus.

4. Beautiful
Ballad. I really like the guitar stuff at the beginning; very impressive. The rest of the song is still kind of typical. The guitar stuff is still very good throughout. Kato is still not impressing me though.

5. My life
I like this song. It has a nice sound to it and the melody is light and quite pleasant. Kato’s vocals are a bit better in this song so that probably helped a bunch.

6. Love me,i love you
I like the chorus for this song; it’s very nice. A bit in the pre-chorus is a little awkward sounding though. I bit of a laid-back song that I kind of enjoy.

7. RIDE wit u
Now this is a nice song. This is a much more solid song from the others thus far. The vocals are much more solid and they don’t sound as awkward as some of the other songs for the most part (haha, I just heard one bit right when I wrote that where she did this weird dip in her vocals which made her go off key). Anyways, another laid-back song that I quite like and the backings are kind of lounge-sounding.

8. Eien no Koe
I’m starting to think it’s the melody that’s just really weird. They have odd accidentals that make her sound like she’s going flat or sharp for no reason. They don’t work at all. This song sounded nice at first because she got into the song itself. I’m all for weird accidentals, but when it doesn’t work with the song, it’s not good at all.

9. Never let go
Another fairly good song. I like the beat of this song. I still don’t like Kato’s vocals still. I still can’t figure out why exactly. I still think she’s getting off pitch for no reason for half the time, and half the time the melody is supposed to be like that… but she still sounds off pitch even if I know it’s part of the melody… Ahh. I don’t know.

10. I Cry
This is a bit of a mysterious sounding song. I like the ongoing guitar bits and the beat that goes with it. This song is quite catchy and interesting, although I’m still trying to ignore the weird sounding melodies and/or her off vocals. I’m still leaning towards the former, taking into account she does go off sometimes. Okay, ignore me on that subject. I’m confusing myself.

11. Jounetsu
This is a pretty good song. The weird accidental/key stuff kind of work okay with this song but still kind of annoy me. The song itself is very interesting. There’s some nice string stuff, although the flow of the melody doesn’t seem to be going many places.

12. ROSE
This whole song is a weird ensemble of awkward sounding notes. The chorus is, however, very catchy, but so much of this song just sounds awkward. There’s obviously an attempt to try something new, and although I like some of this, a lot of this is just kind of unpleasant sounding.

13. STAR
Ballad. I think part of my dislike of Kato’s voice comes with her vocal stylings. She’s just doing some weird stuff with her voice in this song that totally distracts from the nice melody she’s singing. The song is nice though in general and has a nice flowing melody that Kato kind of destroys with her weird vocals o.o;.

14. ONE DAY (Yozora Remix) by m-flo loves Kato Miliyah (Bonus)
Yay, I remember this song! Kato actually sounds MUCH better in this track than most of the tracks off this album. I don’t quite remember the original non-remix version of this but this is a fun little track. Kato’s gotten rid of some of the weird vocal affectations she had before in the previous track. This is a pretty solid track off this album.

Overall-
Favourite track: ONE DAY (Yozora Remix)
I actually came to this album hoping to like it, and I was very disapointed mainly with the vocals of this girl. I really liked her vocals in ONE DAY back when I heard it on m-flo and basically throughout her solo stuff, she just has a weird way of handling her voice and it probably doesn’t help that whenever she writes in accidentals in her songs, she sounds even more off. I don’t know if it’s just me, but her vocals just distracted me from everything else from this album. I found it really hard to actually listen to her songs past her vocals. She has a nice voice, yes, but when I listen to tracks like STARS, which should be a fairly straightforward melody, I found weird stylings in her vocals which totally do not go with the feel of the song. In any case, whatever the reason for her awkward sounding melody and/or vocals, I did not enjoy this album. While I’m sure other people can find things they like about this album, I was not at all impressed with what I did hear from her songs.
